Days of Our Lives Recap - Monday, June 9, 2025 | Belle’s Messy Love Life, Cat’s Cryptic Move & Steve’s Spy Meltdown: Salem’s Funeral Drama Turns Personal

As Salem throws on their best black garb to honor John Black, the mourning gets messy. While Marlena powers through a heartbreak no widow should have to endure, Belle is battling romantic regrets involving EJ DiMera, and Steve Johnson is officially hanging up his spy hat—cue the midlife crisis harp dreams. Meanwhile, Cat shows up late, low-key and with a covert agenda that’s raising more eyebrows than Rachel’s green hair clips.

Steve’s Retirement is Giving ‘Spy Dad in Crisis’ Energy

Steve’s got his duffel packed and a harp on the brain, y’all. With John gone, Black Patch is officially closed for business. He tells Kayla he’s out of the game, but let’s be honest—Steve without a mission is like Marlena without a hypnosis session. The man is lost. While Kayla sighs over his “dangerous job,” she knows deep down he lives for the adrenaline. But the guilt is eating him alive, especially now that John died saving Bo. Steve can barely look Marlena in the eye, terrified she’ll blame him. Spoiler alert: she doesn’t. Instead, she thanks him for bringing John’s keepsakes and basically gives him emotional CPR. Their hug? Cue the sobs.

Belle’s Romantic Mess is the Least Shocking Thing at This Funeral

Belle is wiping her mascara-streaked face and handing out tissues like a well-trained hostess, but let’s not act like her drama isn’t front and center. She’s fielding judgmental glances from Carrie, who’s still bitter about that whole Sami-Austin triangle from the Ice Age. Carrie reminds Belle that Sami hunted Austin like he was the last man on Earth, so Belle dating EJ (Sami’s ex) is just karma doing laps. Brady casually throws gasoline on the fire by confirming that yeah, Dad would definitely hate Belle’s situationship. And honestly? He wouldn’t be wrong. Belle’s got more romantic baggage than a DiMera family reunion.

Rachel’s Mourning Style? Green Hair Clips and Guilt Trips

Rachel shows up to the DiMera mansion with green hair clips—because fashion never takes a day off, even for funerals. Apparently, John gave her the clips, and she’s convinced she dreamed his death into existence. Brady, parenting on expert mode for once, gently explains that John probably visited her in her dream for one last goodbye. She sobs. He hugs. It's all very Lifetime Movie. Later, she has a weird encounter with Johnny at the memento table and runs off like he’s wearing a Freddy Krueger mask. The girl is clearly not okay, and honestly, neither is anyone else.

Cat Plays it Cool While Everyone Else Spirals

Let’s talk about Cat. She sneaks into this funeral like she’s auditioning for a spy reboot, casually whispering “Director” as she breezes past Shane without making eye contact. Smooth. Too smooth. She has a cryptic little moment with Marlena, who thanks her for the condolences like Cat didn’t just roll in from some shadowy government bunker. Julie clocks her too—and not in a friendly way. She practically hisses about Cat’s skydiving adventure with Chad, clearly not over the scandal of it all. Meanwhile, Marlena’s ready to dive back into work because nothing says "coping" like over-scheduling your grief. Kayla is shook, but Marlena insists staying busy is her only lifeline. You do you, Doc.

Salem’s Farewell to a Legend, With All the Drama You’d Expect

John’s urn, spy gadgets, and decades of iconic photos are on full display, and his family is in various states of emotional wreckage. Eric, fresh off priest-duty sabbatical, is sweating bullets over officiating the service, but Carrie reassures him that he didn’t forget how to deliver a eulogy. Shane, in full super-spy mode, calls John the finest agent he ever worked with—and he means it. Paul and Andrew swap secret-agent stories, the kind that are definitely still classified, while reflecting on what a badass John really was. Paul says being John’s son was the greatest gift he ever got. Honestly? Agreed.
