Days of Our Lives Recap - Wednesday, May 28, 2025 | Carrie’s Back, Rachel Remembers & Johnny's Got People Side-Eyeing

Carrie makes an emotional return, Rachel drops a bombshell memory about EJ’s shooting, and Johnny might need a better alibi. Wednesday's recap of Days of Our Lives is packed with accusations, tears, and the kind of family drama only Salem can serve.

Carrie | DOOL, Peacock

Carrie Brings the Feels—and the Flashbacks

Carrie breezes back into Salem like she never left and heads straight to Marlena and John’s side. With Austin stuck in California for Noah’s graduation, Carrie clearly decided emotional support duties were hers alone. As Marlena pours her heart out at John’s bedside, Carrie steps in and reminds us all why John is so much more than a super-spy—he’s a full-on super-dad. From buying her first bra (yes, really) to teaching her to drive, we get all the flashbacks to childhood moments that scream: John is family, period.

And just when you think your tear ducts are safe, Carrie talks about how John was there even when Marlena wasn’t, raising her like his own. Cue John moving his hand, giving both women hope that Salem’s Superman isn’t done fighting yet. Even Abe swings by with a trip down memory lane, recalling his long-standing friendship with John, and reminding him he's not allowed to check out just yet.

Johnny Gets Put Under the Spotlight—and He’s Sweating

Roman meets up with Johnny, who’s already spiraling about his dad and grandpa being in the hospital. But things take a sharp turn when Johnny realizes the gun lockbox is missing—and Roman reminds him that it vanished right around the time EJ got shot. Johnny insists (read: protests a little too hard) that he didn’t shoot his dad, then storms out. Roman's not exactly reassured.

Later, Johnny runs into Belle and unleashes a rant about EJ being the literal worst, which does not help his case. Meanwhile, Rachel casually drops a memory bomb about hearing a gunshot—not in a dream, but for real—on the night of EJ’s shooting. Oh, and she saw Johnny fighting with Uncle EJ, and yes, there was a gun. Someone better lawyer up, and fast.

Kristen Feels the Heat While Rachel Remembers the Fire

EJ tries calling Brady to talk hospital politics, but Kristen overhears him talking about John and freaks out. Cue tears, shock, and a very awkward “there, there” moment from EJ. Kristen and EJ take a little stroll through their tangled emotional history, but Kristen’s too worried about John—and even more worried about how Rachel’s going to handle the news.

Turns out, Rachel’s already got more going on than anyone realizes. After Kristen breaks the news about Grandpa John, Rachel starts opening up. She’s not sick—she’s upset. And not just about her grandfather. She heard a gunshot, and it wasn’t a dream. She was awake, she snuck downstairs, and she saw Johnny arguing with EJ. And yep, Johnny had a gun. The drama just leapt from messy to explosive.

Belle Connects the Dots, While Alex Plays Corporate Switzerland

Belle shows up at Alex’s fancy new CEO digs, not for flirty small talk, but to grill him about Philip’s sketchy situation. Alex admits he saw Philip meeting with Steve, Shawn, and Kevin—and maybe should’ve connected some dots before things spiraled into a drug heist. Belle reveals that Philip was trying to save Bo and make peace with Xander. Noble intentions, criminal execution.

As for the attack on Philip, Belle suspects Xander—and so does Alex, but he’s trying to stay quiet because, well, loyalty. He saw Xander leaving the Salem Inn the same morning Philip was beaten, and things just didn’t sit right. But if Philip doesn’t wake up and Xander goes down, it could torpedo more than one company. Belle tells Alex to call her if he ever grows a backbone and decides to spill.

Final Scenes Set Up the Next Round of Trouble

As the episode wraps, Belle reunites with Carrie and hears the hopeful news about John squeezing her hand. Marlena refuses to leave her husband’s side, because of course she does. Meanwhile, EJ falls in the square—dramatic, but not fatal—and Johnny, after a split-second of concern, turns his back on his dad and walks off like he’s done.

At the pub, Kate brings Roman some promising news: Philip might actually wake up soon. But Roman’s got Johnny on his mind—and he’s not buying the “I didn’t shoot my dad” routine. Back at Kristen’s, Rachel confirms what we’ve all suspected. Johnny was there. He had a gun. And now, all roads lead to one major question: Who really pulled the trigger?
