Tate Turns the Tables on Sophia
Sophia thought she was handling her life like a grown woman—until Tate strolled in and hijacked her entire adoption situation. One minute, she’s at the Pub having a very grown-up conversation with Melinda Trask, who’s laying down legal wisdom and a tragic backstory about her own daughter. The next minute, Sophia’s mom Amy crashes the meeting like a thunderstorm in stilettos, loudly objecting to her daughter giving up the baby. Melinda’s not having it and serves Amy a plate of legal reality: Sophia’s 18 and this is her decision.
Amy’s still reeling when Tate busts in and decides to make it all about him. He’s not here for Melinda's brand of help and lets Sophia know that this same woman helped steal Nicole and Eric’s baby. Sophia’s jaw hits the floor, Amy smells blood, and Melinda’s got to defend her entire legal career. Sophia’s left torn, with her mother finally softening—but now Tate's thrown a grenade into the mix. So much for a simple signature on some adoption papers.
Ari’s Late-Night Escapade Sparks Gabi’s Fury
Meanwhile, Gabi’s practically chewing her nails off after her daughter disappears overnight without a trace. JJ’s trying to keep her grounded, but Gabi’s imagination is on fire—drugs, kidnapping, cults—until JJ drops the most scandalous theory: maybe Ari ran off with a boy. Gabi shuts that down faster than a DiMera at a paternity test.
Too bad JJ’s right. Ari’s been at the Salem Inn doing everything but reading scripture with Doug. After a cozy night and an even cozier goodbye, Ari runs into Gabi in the Square and lies through her freshly lip-glossed teeth, claiming she was at a childhood friend’s house. Gabi’s not buying it, but before she can drag the whole truth out, Javi arrives, and the argument takes a detour. Gabi apologizes for firing him (progress!), but once Javi leaves, she’s back on her daughter like a heat-seeking missile. Ari sticks to her story—until Gabi asks if she spent the night with a boy. Ari’s face says it all, but her mouth keeps lying.
Johnny Faces Harsh Truths and Sweet Dreams
Over at Johnny and Chanel’s almost-empty apartment (they call it minimalist, but it’s giving broke), Johnny’s phone lights up with messages about Grandpa John. After a cozy check-in with Sami—who's stuck in Sicily thanks to a literal volcanic eruption—Johnny realizes the situation is worse than he thought. Even Tate, fresh off his flu recovery, visits John and leaves visibly shaken.
Johnny confides in Chanel that if they ever have a son, he wants to name him John. Chanel melts a little, especially when Johnny accidentally mentions having “kids” plural. But her warm fuzzies cool when the topic shifts to his new job at Titan. She’s not thrilled he’ll be working with Xander, but Johnny’s determined not to live off DiMera money. He’s trying to grow up, and she’s here for it—even if the rest of his life is a dumpster fire.
Doug Dabbles in Salem’s Shadiest Business
While Gabi’s parenting crisis and Johnny’s existential dread play out, Doug decides it’s time to take a walk on the wild side. He shows up at Leo’s looking for help tracking down whoever ended up with Julie’s necklace. Doug needs someone who speaks fluent shady, and Leo’s practically the king of under-the-table deals. Naturally, Leo’s in.
As Leo agrees to sleuth around, Javi returns with a bit of personal news: he’s going to apply to the fire department. Leo practically throws confetti. Javi’s ready to chase his dream again—even if his last gig ended with a homophobic boss and a one-way ticket out of Corpus Christi. With Leo cheering him on and Salem’s fire department in desperate need of eye candy, Javi’s fire is officially reignited.
