Days of Our Lives Recap - Kayla Plots a Heist for the Drug Bo Needs to Live | Wednesday, May 7, 2025 [SPOILERS]

EJ tries to play hospital hero (with strings attached), Kayla hatches a sketchy plan to snatch a life-saving drug, and everyone in Salem is either scheming, romancing, or both. Wednesday's Days of Our Lives full episode recap is full of shady deals, steamy scenes, and one very determined doctor.

Steve & Kayla | DOOL, Peacock

EJ's Hospital Hustle Hits a Wall – Hard

Oh, EJ. Sweetie. He woke up today thinking he was about to swoop in and save the hospital like some high-rolling knight in shining armor. Never mind that he’s basically Salem’s most charming villain. He leaves Johnny a heartfelt voicemail (guilt trip, anyone?), rifles through some mail, and finds a get-well card from Stefan. Cute, but that’s not the main event.

EJ’s master plan? Buy the hospital with his newly freed-up fortune—because he got the boot from DiMera Enterprises and suddenly has play money. Dr. Russell, who is very much not here for EJ’s delusions of grandeur, tells him straight: this hospital will eat you alive. But EJ, high on self-confidence, thinks the upcoming sepsis drug patent will turn the hospital into a cash cow. He’s ready to pull the trigger. Only one problem: literally no one else is.

Stephanie Melts (A Little) Toward Philip

Meanwhile, Stephanie bumps into Philip and delivers the cold shoulder like a pro. She’s still bitter that he and Kate basically trampled over Xander to get what they wanted. Philip, trying to be all humble and wounded, apologizes for how he went about it. Not what he did, just how. Real accountability king.

Philip & Stephanie | DOOL

He insists he just wanted to do right by his dad, even if it meant blowing up other people’s lives. Stephanie isn’t throwing forgiveness around like confetti, but she does say maybe, one day, they can be friends again. That’s as good as a win in Salem.

Bo’s Condition Sparks Sepsis Drug Scramble

Across town, Alex and Xander are getting serious about that magical sepsis drug. Alex brings the research receipts and points out that the hospital is way ahead of DiMera in developing it. Xander’s pumped. This drug could make them filthy rich and stick it to DiMera at the same time. A double win.

Meanwhile, Belle and Shawn have a sentimental moment over their fathers’ health crises. Everyone’s tired, scared, and pretty much living in a medical drama.

Kayla’s Ready to Steal—Like, Literally

Desperate times, meet Dr. Kayla Brady. After reviewing Bo’s records (courtesy of Hope), she and Steve agree it’s time to stop playing by the rules. Steve’s like, “Hey maybe don’t say out loud that you’re gonna steal the drug,” but Kayla? She’s past subtle.

The plan? Swipe a single dose of the sepsis drug while no one’s looking. Just one. No big deal, right? Wrong. Dr. Russell’s hovering around like a nosy hall monitor, so sneaking in and out is basically impossible.

Then in waltzes Sarah—just to offer her condolences about Bo—and boom, Kayla's lightbulb goes off. Sarah mentions skipping a research conference, and Kayla practically hands her a ticket. But not for Sarah. Oh no, she wants to send Dr. Russell on a little out-of-town vacation so she can grab that drug in peace.

Kayla & Sarah | DOOL

Once Sarah dips, Kayla pitches the idea to Russell, who hates people, conferences, and presumably joy. But EJ limps in mid-conversation (gotta make everything about him), and somehow Russell agrees to go. Step one of Kayla’s plan? Handled.

Sarah Books a Spa Trip, Xander’s Into Sepsis Instead

Back at Casa Xander, Sarah surprises her man with a romantic cabin-and-spa getaway. But before she can even say “hot stone massage,” he’s like, “Tell me about sepsis.” Yep, nothing says foreplay like infectious disease talk.

Xander | DOOL

She breaks it down: sepsis is when your immune system turns into your worst enemy. Cool. Xander’s intrigued. But Sarah’s like, let’s talk exfoliation, not infection. She plops cucumber slices on his eyes to convince him a spa day isn’t pure torture, and miraculously, it works.

They agree to the trip—and a little pre-vacation frisky business.

Alex Peeks at Stephanie’s Book (Rude!)

Elsewhere, Alex sets up a movie night for Stephanie and casually drops that he’s been snooping in her graphic romance novel. Yikes. Major invasion of privacy, but Stephanie somehow brushes it off.

She’s mortified, he’s impressed, and in true DOOL fashion, they decide to act out a few pages. We’ll let your imagination handle the rest.

Final Showdown: Everyone Wants the Hospital

Philip catches Belle up on the latest Titan mess and admits he feels awful about how he treated Xander. He’s mourning the friendship that could have been, especially with Bo circling the drain. Belle keeps his secrets safe but warns him to stay out of trouble. Good luck with that.

Meanwhile, Steve and Shawn are gearing up Ocean’s Eleven-style. They’ve got floor plans, a mission, and nerves of steel. All they need is perfect timing to pull off the sepsis drug grab without derailing the drug’s approval.

Back at the hospital, EJ makes his grand pitch to Kayla: let him save the hospital. No strings! Just millions of DiMera dollars and his undying need for control. Kayla, no fool, bursts out laughing. It’s a hard pass from her. She knows better than to take candy from this particular baby DiMera.

EJ warns her that he’ll go over her head. Kayla warns him the board will laugh in his face.

And in true Days fashion, he storms out while she smirks like the queen she is.

One Last Twist

While Alex and Stephanie are cuddled up, dreaming sexy novel dreams, Xander’s back on the phone. He’s got a bold new plan: buy the hospital themselves. Because if EJ thinks he’s going to corner the sepsis drug market, he better think again.
