When Marlena and Paul are whispering sweet encouragements by John’s bedside, he croaks out a heartfelt “Doc,” which sends them both into a flurry of emotion. Paul’s guilt over not swapping places with John in the lab is met with a rare, full-circle moment—John manages a thumbs up and whispers, “Proud to be your dad.” Cue every heart in Salem swelling. He’ll give her what she wants, but Kristen has to say goodbye to her daughter’s entire zip code. They shake hands in front of Stefano’s portrait, both smirking like two villains playing nice.
