Bo’s Back… And It’s a Lot to Unpack

Bo may have just woken up from years in a coma, but don’t think for a second he’s easing back in slowly. Hope practically skips into her new life with her revived soulmate, who’s suddenly mobile and full of emotional baggage. One minute, he’s locking lips with his ride-or-die Hope, and the next, he’s spiraling over the havoc he caused under Megan’s twisted spell.

Ciara pops in just in time to witness the lovefest, giving her dad a crash course in “What You Missed While in a Coma.” Turns out she’s a globe-trotting mom of two now, sailing around with Ben like it’s a lifestyle blog. Bo’s jaw hits the floor—twice—first at the grandkid count and again when Shawn Douglas enters with a guilt complex the size of Salem.

Bo, ever the forgiving dad, assures Shawn he remembers everything and still sees him as his pride and joy. And just when it feels like we might get through this reunion without more trauma, Bo gets the double gut-punch: Victor is gone, and so is Doug. Cue the waterworks. This man went from coma to emotional rollercoaster in under an hour.

Marlena’s World Falls Apart

While Bo’s over here collecting grandkids like baseball cards, Marlena is out in the town square breaking every heart in sight. She’s mourning John in front of Alice and Tom’s memorial, sobbing about her one true love being gone (time to open Kleenex package #3 for the week). Back at her place, the fridge is turning into a leftovers museum as friends flood the penthouse with casseroles and condolences.

Then Sami calls, and you know that’s never good news. Her daughter had an airport accident—classic Sami timing—so she’s skipping the memorial. Marlena, ever the martyr, reveals she told John's father herself and insists on starting to face life solo. But don’t mistake her strength for peace—she’s barely holding it together as she confesses to Eric that she’s wondering if Bo’s miracle came at the cost of John’s life. Brutal honesty wrapped in grief? That’s our Marlena.

Johnny Struggles to Fill Some Big Shoes

Poor Johnny was all suited up for his first day at Titan-DiMera when Chanel drops the bomb about John. He’s immediately swallowed by doubt, thinking he never lived up to the man whose name he shares. Chanel, the queen of heart-to-hearts, tells him he’s exactly the kind of man John would be proud of—flawed, brave, and still standing.

They show up at Marlena’s to pay their respects, and she lets it slip that Sami won’t be attending, which clearly cuts deep. Johnny promises to live up to John’s legacy, but Marlena assures him he already has. Back at home, Chanel reminds him she’s not going anywhere and wants to shoulder the heartbreak with him. If anyone’s going to get Johnny through this storm, it’s her.

A Wedding in the Midst of Mourning

Leave it to Marlena to turn a funeral week into a wedding planning session. Paul and Andrew were ready to hit pause on their big day out of respect for John, but Marlena shuts that idea down faster than a DiMera board vote. According to her, what the family needs is joy—stat.

She convinces them to stay in Salem and say “I do” in honor of John. Paul’s emotional, Andrew’s supportive, and Marlena’s already half-planning the reception before anyone can object. Because when Marlena says love needs to be celebrated, you don’t argue. You grab a tux.

In the final moments, Hope is basking in Bo’s return like it’s a fairytale ending, but Shawn delivers the final gut-punch of the episode: John is gone. Just like that, the joy is dimmed—and the grief train keeps rolling through Salem and we're already getting tissue box #4 ready for tomorrow's episode, hopefully some happy tears.
