Marlena finally gets a call about John, Paulina plays political hardball, and Kevin proves once again that crime is best left to professionals.

Marlena Has Questions, and Tate Has… a Fever?
Marlena strolls in just as Tate’s doing his best party planner impersonation for Sophia’s birthday, complete with decorations and a little too much effort. Of course, Grandma can’t resist a heart-to-heart. She grills him on whether he’s still got feelings for Sophia (he swears he doesn’t), but she reminds him that this kind of “just friends” energy could be misleading. Spoiler alert: he only has eyes for Holly, but if that’s true, Marlena says there’s hope for a reunion.
Their convo pivots to Johnny and that whole failed adoption mess, and guess what? Marlena told Johnny to be honest, and Tate’s actually okay with it. Now that Sophia’s officially an adult, they’re headed to an agency anyway. Enter birthday girl, thrilled by the surprise party even if all their friends are at prom. Tate puts on a brave face—until dinner kicks in and suddenly he’s sweating more than a guy caught in a Salem lie. Fever, dizziness, and awkward vibes take over. Sophia gets her corsage and her cake, but also a one-man flu show. Happy birthday, girl.
Paulina Bribes Xander With Cake and Political Favors
Xander tries (and fails) to get through to DiMera Pharma’s director, while Alex is busy name-dropping Stephanie and playing PR for Philip. Xander’s not here for any Philip redemption arc. He’s got betrayal scars and zero trust left to give.
Cue Paulina with a slice of chocolate cake and a big ask: maybe don’t sue Sweet Bits into oblivion? Xander isn’t easily wooed, but he’s also a sucker for political leverage. Turns out Abe’s on the hospital board, and Xander needs that vote. If Theo gets a cushy gig at Titan or DiMera, maybe Abe’s loyalty shifts. Deal struck. Cake wins again. Xander heads to the hospital where—plot twist—he runs into Philip, because Salem’s drama gods never rest.
The Drug Heist That Could’ve Used a Brain Cell
Meanwhile, in the dumbest heist this side of Salem, Kevin breaks into Dr. Russell’s lab with all the grace of a raccoon in a trash can. He starts stealing Versavix one careful drop at a time… until Steve and Shawn barrel in like they’re in some off-brand spy flick. They miss Kevin entirely, but somehow still mess things up. The drug? Gone. The cameras? About to come back on. The panic? Immediate.
Outside, Kevin’s having a meltdown behind a dumpster with a whole handful of stolen vials and no clue what to do next. Philip’s busy waxing nostalgic with Xander and ignoring Kevin’s frantic calls. By the time Philip does call back, Kevin’s taken the entire batch like it’s a souvenir. Philip tells him to just fake a new vial and return the rest—because sure, that’s how lab security works. Oh, and the lab’s owner? Already en route. Hope Kevin likes being fired, arrested, or both.
Marlena’s Finally Got News, and Stephanie Plays Cupid (Again)
Stephanie tries to drag Kayla out for dinner, but Mom’s too busy playing “Where’s Steve?” Stephanie quickly shifts to business and pitches Alex as the better Titan guy over EJ. Kayla’s unconvinced, but polite. She leaves, convinced her love life is finally drama-free—which means she’s doomed by DOOL logic.
Marlena swings by to escape her John-related stress, but Kayla’s weirdness about Steve raises red flags. She brushes it off as Bo-related anxiety, but we all know Marlena’s antenna is up. The two bond over helplessness, then part ways with lingering dread.
Later, Stephanie and Alex meet up to toast his mediocre date with Gabi and flirt their way into bed. He wants to publish that book of his, and she’s feeling optimistic. So, basically, they’re tempting fate.
Cliffhangers and Chaos
Marlena returns home just in time to hear from Shane—Paul and Andrew are closing in on John’s location. Cue tears and relief. Finally, a glimmer of hope in her mess of a week.
Meanwhile, Steve and Shawn show up to Kayla’s with bad news: someone beat them to the lab. The dumb heist didn’t just flop—it never even stood a chance.
And in a final twist, Xander hears back from the DiMera doc only to learn Philip already got his answers. Kevin gets a message that Dr. Russell is returning to the lab tonight. Clock’s ticking, and that little heist? It's about to blow up big time.
