Chad Claps Back and Julie’s Ready to Buy a Bookstore

Chad might be grateful Julie helped save him and Cat from the elevator, but he’s officially reached his limit with her snark. After Julie makes Cat uncomfortable enough to bail, Chad finally tells his beloved grandma to zip it. She cries, he softens, and suddenly they’re having a heart-to-heart about bookstores and bonding with the kids. Julie floats the idea of buying Foster’s Bookstore, and Chad thinks it’s a great idea. He points out she’s always complaining about being bored anyway. Touché, Chad.

Marlena’s Medical Mystery Has Everyone Spinning

Marlena’s got Sarah running test after test, but everything’s coming back clean. That should be good news, but Susan’s vision still looms large. Marlena thinks therapy is helping and thanks Sarah for being a support, but Sarah’s not done sleuthing. She’s determined to figure out what’s really going on.

Meanwhile, Susan is watching fake MIT lectures and throwing shade at Sami, calling Marlena’s condition “dark side” territory. EJ isn’t having it and tells her to use her powers to find his shooter instead. No dice. Johnny reappears just in time to compare all this to his possession days, and you know what? We kind of see the resemblance.

Gabi Turns on the Flirt, Xander Turns on the Alarm Bells

Gabi, ever the schemer, is suddenly all sweetness and smiles with Xander. She invites him to dinner to “cheer him up,” now that she knows he and Sarah are separated. Xander’s no fool, though — he immediately gets suspicious. Things go from flirty to shady real fast when he gets a call about a Freedom of Information Act request tied to the DiMera takeover. Gabi plays dumb, but Xander clearly isn’t buying the act. Whatever he’s hiding, it’s making him sweat.

Later, he bumps into Sarah outside the pub and tries to play the jealous ex. Bad idea. She shuts it down hard and tells him not every hug is about sex. Xander is left looking like a sad puppy.

Susan’s Bombshell and Cat’s Steamy Daydream

Susan crosses paths with Marlena in the square and suddenly gets lightheaded. She declares she knows what’s wrong — something about blood draining. Excuse us?! Vampires? Demons? Susan doesn’t even know, and Marlena wisely backs away before things get even weirder.

Meanwhile, Cat daydreams about sparring with Rafe only for him to turn into Chad. Let’s just say things get steamy, fast. Back in the real world, she impresses Rafe with her moves, but maybe save the sexy fight fantasies for off-duty hours.

EJ has a touching moment with Johnny, assuring him that while he’s done terrible things, he did them out of love. Aww, father-son bonding over morally gray behavior. Gabi tells Tony she’s got Xander right where she wants him, but we’re not so sure. He may be flustered, but he’s definitely not fooled..
