Carter, Lily and Cole | Y&R, CBS SONY |
Lauren begs Nikki to think twice, but nothing will stop her from signing away Chancellor if it means saving Nick. Amanda conveniently appears with the paperwork and a smile that screams “mission accomplished.” Nikki vows she will only sign once Nick is safe, but Lauren can see Cane’s trap closing fast. When Amanda shows Nikki and Lauren the bloody remains of where Nick had been held, Nikki’s icy warning is clear. If her son is harmed in any way, Cane will wish he’d never crossed her.
Nick’s Fight for Life
On the train, Sharon hovers over a pale Nick while Billy and Sally scramble to figure out how to get him off the mountain. Every moment counts, and Sally leaves to check if the tracks are clear. Sharon tries to soothe Nick, who insists he’s fine, though the blood loss says otherwise. When Nikki finally reaches him, Nick musters a weak smile, telling his mom he’s okay. The relief is short-lived as everyone wonders why cell service has suddenly returned. Victor answers his ringing phone with a grim look. Cane knows he lost.
Carter Unleashes His Inner Villain and Kills Chance
Meanwhile, Cane desperately presses Carter for the truth about Damian’s murder. Carter’s loyalty curdles into madness, and when Lily stumbles into the wrong place at the wrong time, she finds herself staring down the barrel of his gun. Chance declares the tracks have been clear for days, blowing a hole in Cane’s story, but Carter refuses to surrender. He drags Lily into the maze, convinced that Cane never truly valued him. Chance and Cane close in, only for Carter to aim his rage at Cane. In the scuffle, Chance is tragically shot. Lily, Billy and Cane are frozen in shock as Chance takes his final breath.
Fallout and Heartbreak
Victor wastes no time summoning a helicopter for Nick, his anger at Cane boiling over. Carter’s lifeless body (he shot himself) lies under a tablecloth as a devastated Amanda grapples with the truth. Cane, equally gutted, comforts Lily, who apologizes for ever doubting him. Still, Cane knows this loss is one he cannot undo. Jack fumes at Cane’s cold insistence that everyone can “just go home now.” Not everyone can. Nina and Jill will be shattered. Jack storms off, disgusted that Cane is already plotting a business move with Billy, who shocks Phyllis by revealing he wants Chancellor more than ever, determined to honor Chance’s memory.
