The Young and the Restless Recap - Wednesday, June 18, 2025 | Mariah Melts Down and Breaks Up with Tessa While Daniel Drowns in Feelings

On Wednesday's rollercoaster ride of an episode of The Young and the Restless, Mariah’s guilt pushes her relationship to the brink, Adam ends up shirtless defending his honor and Daniel is so deep in his feelings he’s practically writing poetry. If you thought Europe was where the drama was, think again because this Y&R recap proves the real emotional earthquake is right at home.

Mariah and Tessa | Y&R, CBS SONY

Mariah’s Secret Past Blows Up Her Present

At Crimson Lights, Mariah is consumed with regret over something she refuses to say out loud. One flashback at a time, we see her remembering an almost-kiss with a creepy older man and that’s before Tessa walked in and made everything even messier. Now Mariah is unraveling faster than a snagged sweater, telling Tessa she doesn’t deserve her or their daughter. It's decided. Mariah wants to end things with Tessa.

Tessa, patient as ever, tries to pull Mariah back from the edge, but it’s like arguing with a ghost. Mariah insists she has to leave and that nothing will fix this. Tessa begs her to stop running. She even says what Mariah won’t. She probably got drunk and cheated. And despite it all, Tessa forgives her. But Mariah isn’t ready for redemption. She says what she did was worse than a one night stand, tells Tessa to let her go, and stumbles out into the night. Cue the dramatic gasps because Tessa is left sobbing and Mariah’s outside looking like the world just ended with tears streaming down her guilty face.

Adam Goes from Accused to Undressed

Over at Adam’s office, Chelsea walks in on him slamming his laptop shut like a guilty teen. She demands to know what he’s hiding, convinced he’s already broken his promise and helped Victor smear Billy. Adam’s blindsided, but Chelsea’s in full-on interrogation mode. He opens his laptop to prove he hasn’t published a single word. Turns out he was just gaming with Connor and Johnny in some epic zombie battle. Chelsea is mortified, and Adam, looking half amused and half offended, tells her she’s not the only one shocked by her meltdown. Things quickly shift from tension to passion as Chelsea apologizes for not trusting him. Adam assures her he’s changed and that nothing, not even Victor, can shake what they’re building. As they lock lips and lose clothes, the only thing on their minds is each other. Somewhere in France, Victor probably sensed a disturbance in the force.

Daniel’s Heart Is One Giant Empty Space

At Society, Daniel and Danny are catching up post-movie and things turn introspective fast. Daniel opens up about how empty his life feels without Heather. Every room, every memory, every note he plays on the guitar feels hollow. Danny’s proud of him for fighting his way through the pain, but Daniel admits he still feels like a ghost in his own life. Danny offers support but gets a little nosy when it comes to Daniel’s friendship with Tessa. Daniel assures him it’s strictly platonic, though he does admit it’s easy to talk to her. As father and son bond, Danny floats the idea of proposing to Christine. Daniel’s eyebrows shoot up, but Danny’s confident. She’s his person and he’s ready.

Tessa Breaks Down, Daniel Steps Up

Just when Tessa thought the emotional damage was done, she finds herself crumpling on the Crimson Lights patio. Mariah’s exit left her broken, but she’s not alone for long. Danny notices her crying and nudges Daniel to go check in. Daniel takes the hint, and as he sits with Tessa, Mariah lurks just out of sight, breathless and guilt ridden. Tessa doesn’t want to talk at first, but when Daniel gently offers to just be there, she folds into his arms in full sobs. It’s the comfort she needed but not from the person she wanted. Watching it all unfold from the outside, Mariah looks shattered. And with Daniel now tangled up in Tessa’s heartbreak, this triangle might be forming whether anyone meant it to or not.
