EJ Plays Detective… in a Hospital Gown
EJ DiMera, the man, the myth, the melodrama, is not here for hospital rest. Nope. He’s propped up with a tablet like he’s logging into a board meeting instead of healing from a literal shooting. Mama Susan storms in to drag him back under the covers, but EJ’s on a mission. He’s got that "fatherly intuition" buzzing like a fire alarm — Johnny needs him, and apparently, bed rest be damned.
While Susan fusses, EJ drops that Johnny’s been giving him the cold shoulder ever since learning the truth about his oh-so-deep, dark secrets. Because nothing says “I’m sorry, son” like stumbling out of the ICU against medical advice, right?

Paulina Reads Johnny for Filth
Over at the DiMera mansion, Johnny’s wallowing on the couch like a Shakespearean ghost. Cue Paulina, marching in like the no-nonsense queen she is. She is not here for this sad sack routine. She lets Johnny have it — stop brooding, shave, get your act together, and for the love of Chanel, fix your damn marriage.

Johnny & Paulina | DOOL |
Johnny’s excuse? He’s the embodiment of EJ’s sins. Please. Paulina isn’t buying that pity party. She drops some real talk about resilience and fighting for what matters. And by “what matters,” we mean Chanel. According to Paulina, EJ’s already done enough damage; it’s time Johnny stopped helping him.
Susan shows up right after Paulina leaves, cooing about how EJ’s dying to see Johnny. But Johnny’s got one thing on his mind: Chanel. And this time, he’s going to make things right… or so he says.
Chanel Is Done
Meanwhile, Chanel is trying to be a supportive adult around Felicity and Cat, who are celebrating a gymnastics win. But the minute adoption is mentioned, Chanel bolts. When she comes back, she lays it out: she’s not going to be a mom. Cue the emotional whiplash. Felicity apologizes, but the damage is done.
Paulina swoops in next with her second pep talk of the day, claiming Johnny’s just as miserable as Chanel. But Chanel isn’t in the mood. Weeks of painful conversations, and Johnny waits until the final moment to pull the plug on adoption? She calls it what it is — controlling, cruel, and exactly like EJ.
This isn’t one fight. It’s been a parade of heartbreak: her miscarriage, Joy, now this. Chanel’s emotionally maxed out. Paulina tells her to hold onto love and forgive, but Chanel’s already slipping away.
Leo, Chad & A Messy Breakfast Date
Leo and Chad are bonding over breakfast (read: gossiping like it’s their job) at the pub, trying to figure out who turned EJ into Swiss cheese. Leo doesn’t think Ava’s their shooter. Chad suggests Leo channel his inner nosy reporter. Naturally, Leo’s already two steps ahead.
When Felicity and Cat show up, Felicity starts playing matchmaker again. Subtlety? Never heard of her. Cat tries to apologize for the awkwardness, but Chad’s already bracing himself for more accidental double dates and auction shenanigans.

Kayla Goes Full Rogue with Medical Ethics
Elsewhere, Kayla is wheeling and dealing for her brother’s life. She drags Dr. Jeffrey Russell into a meeting and tries to sell him on giving her a drug that’s still stuck in animal testing. Bold move, Kayla.

Kayla & Dr. Russell | DOOL |
Dr. Russell’s horrified — it’s not ready, it’s not approved, and doing this could bury his entire career. But Kayla, looking about this close to a breakdown, asks him to consider a little off-the-record magic. Russell says no, citing the FDA, big lawsuits, and, oh yeah, ethics.
Then comes the kicker: Russell wants out. Out of the hospital, out of his contract, and into the arms of Big Pharma. He’s chasing those dollar signs, and a million bucks from the hospital isn’t enough. Kayla, exhausted and insulted, gets called away to an “EJ emergency.” Spoiler alert: it’s EJ demanding to be discharged — immediately.
Gabi vs. Leo: Round 274
Back at the apartment, Gabi’s on a mission to snatch Gabi Chic away from DiMera — and she’s using the Internet like a business wizard from 2002. Ari calls to talk graduation, but Gabi cuts the convo short when Leo sashays in.

Gabi & Leo | DOOL |
He’s looking for his very important muckraking book by none other than Jack Deveraux. Gabi accuses Ava of shooting EJ, but Leo’s not buying it. He straight-up says he thinks Gabi did it. Gabi is ready to breathe fire.
She threatens to sue Leo into the next century if he even thinks of dragging her name into The Spectator. After enough insults to fill a roast special, Gabi storms out, leaving Leo staring at her purse like it’s about to start spilling secrets.
Cue the Chaos
Upstairs, Susan is feeling those psychic tingles again. She tells Johnny he’s hiding a secret so dark, she can feel it. Johnny nopes right out of there, but Susan’s warning hangs heavy.

Susan & EJ | DOOL |
Meanwhile, EJ finally finds Rafe’s camera memory card, pops it into his tablet like a teenager watching TikToks — and gets hit with the ugliest truth of all. There, on the screen, is his very own son, Johnny, pointing a gun directly at him. Cue EJ collapsing into his chair, whispering, “Oh, Giovanni, no…”

Johnny | DOOL |
Elsewhere in Salem…
Chanel dodges Johnny like he’s contagious when she sees him lugging his bags through the town square. Leo gets caught red-handed (literally) digging through Gabi’s purse. And over at the silent auction reveal, Cat gets the alert: EJ won her. Chad laughs, but not in a happy way. Just another reminder that you can’t escape a DiMera — even when you think you’ve outbid one.
